Mission and History

The Southside Educational Center for Youth began providing services in June of 1997 in response to the growing need for quality, affordable after-school and summer care for children in the communities of Roseland and West Pullman.  These two areas are home to more than 27,462 children ages 6 to 15.  Focusing efforts on this age group helps our community’s most vulnerable population. Reaching these young people provides the greatest opportunity to break the cycle of low test scores, academic failure, and high dropout rates.
